That’s where customer service starts! If you don’t have a passion or desire to truly provide your customers with what they need you will not be successful! In order to have a passion you need to know your purpose – WHY!
Steve Jobs said “People say that you have to have a lot of passion for what you are doing and it’s totally true. And the reason is because it’s so hard that if you don’t (have passion) any rational person would give up. If you don’t love it you’re going to fail. You have got to have passion for it.”
Simon Sinek, author of “Start with Why” believes that when you start with “Why” passion exudes. People are social animals and they sense that passion and commitment. That shows your authenticity. Relationships follow from that followed by trust and ultimately loyalty.
Many of us remember when we were kids and we would ask “Why”? Mom or dad would very often say “Because I said so”. As employees, we ask why we have to do things a certain way and the answer is quite often “because that’s the policy” or “because we have always done it that way”. The rules of the game have changed. People want to know why, employees need to know why and customers will also be more loyal when they know why.
So ask yourself WHY? Why are you in this business? Why is it important to provide good customer service? That is your first step! Know Why!
