YES. It’s possible and not illegal, immoral or unethical! Actually it’s essential.
Guess what? I get it. After 35 years in business as an employee, employer and ultimately business owner I know that passion at work is critical. And when I sold my insurance brokerage business 4 years ago, I knew that the combination of my experience and The Passion Test for Business tm could transform the face of the business world as we know it.
So what is Passion? Wikipedia says Passion is an intense compelling feeling, enthusiasm, or desire for something. The term is also often applied to a lively or eager interest in or admiration for a proposal, cause, or activity or love; to a feeling of unusual excitement, enthusiasm or compelling emotion, a positive affinity for love, towards a subject, idea, person, or object.
The Passion Test is the key to firstly identifying or clarifying the business owners’ core values for the organization. Coupled with a workshop with the employees and you develop a Cultural Action Plan to carry your business forward – to engage your employees. And isn’t that what it’s all about these days.
In a survey completed recently by Majix Consulting, the two key criteria that employees looked for in a leader were firstly a relationship and secondly a leader who led by example. So what do they mean by a relationship? They want a leader who is honest, listens and someone they can trust. As for leading by example, here’s one quote from the survey: “Have the highest expectations of yourself and others. Don’t put down – build up.”
